Giving Back to the Community



Verona Betterment has donated well over $150,000.00.00 to the community over the past five years. Following is a summary of those donations.
A hospitality shelter at Hometown Park at a cost of roughly $35,000.00 plus generous donations of labor and materials from local businesses and craftsmen.
Cash donations to the Verona Police Department, the Verona Fire Department and Fitchrona EMS through 2007 total $13,000.00.
A new PA system at Hometown Park was put in at a cost of over $4600.00.
Donations to improve Hometown Park total more than $19,000.00 with $10,600.00 being used to upgrade the electrical at the park. Other improvements include park benches, a water faucet, landscaping, paving and snow fencing.
A cash donation of $15,000.00 to the city was made in 2007 to help with costs of the new Harriet Park shelter.
In 2005, a new “Welcome To Verona” sign at the east entrance to Verona was installed at a cost of over $7500.00.
In the fall of 2007, Verona Betterment agreed to spend $28,798.00 toward the construction of three more “Welcome to Verona” signs. These new signs are on the corner of Cross County and Hwy M, on Hwy 69 near the by-pass and on the west end of Business 18 & 151. See pictures above.
In 2008, Verona Betterment donated $15,000.00 to the Verona Fire Department for the purchase of two new thermal imaging cameras, $8000.00 to the Senior Center for the purchase of an electric car, $5000.00 to Cutting Edge Ministry to help with scholarships, materials and supplies for student mission trips, $1000.00 to the police department’s Nite Out and $1000.00 to the Fitchrona EMS.
In August 2008 Verona Betterment refunded fees paid by participating organizations. These refunds were rounded up to the nearest one hundred dollars and include: Verona Optimists ($600), Verona Senior Center ($100), Rhapsody Center ($100), Cutting Edge Ministry ($100), Verona Chamber of Commerce ($500), Verona Explorers ($100), Verona Fire Department ($100) and Southwest Eagles Hockey ($100).
